Past Indefinite

At emergency 07 Chris performed a work-in-progress solo piece exploring the links between camp, the self and the nature of nostagia.

Past Indefinite by Chris Fitzsimmons
A work-in-progress solo venture written and performed by Chris Fitzsimmons. Sometimes funny, sometimes tragic, this show tentatively explores the links between camp, the self and the nature of nostalgia through artifice - depth through surface. A combination of storytelling, solo conversation, video projection, cross-dressing and pop music.

As a Method Lab Artist Chris Fitzimmons is developing Past Indefinite and working with two other performers. Written and performed by Chris Fitzsimmons, interupted by Andy Avery and Aliki Chapple.

Chris thinks he knows who he is because he remembers who he was. He understands why he likes the things he likes (men) and why he hates the things he hates (men) but is uncertain of what comes in-between… (men?)
Andy also knows who Chris is. He knows exactly what happened to him in the past and, even more than that, he can say with no certainty whatsoever what will probably happen to him in the future.
Most of Andy is fictional, but most of Chris is a lie. The truth is somewhere between the two.
Possibly.

Chris Fitzsimmons trained with the National Youth Theatre (and then proceeded to perform with them), he completed a BTEC in Performing Arts at Huddersfield Technical College and recently graduated with a degree in Theatre Practice from UCLAN, in September this year he will embark on an MA course in Writing for Performance.

As well as being a performer, Chris is a director and a writer; he has directed many pieces ranging from No Exit by Jean Paul Sartre to Design For Living by Noel Coward. He has written a variety of pieces, some of which he has performed here at greenroom as part of Vaudeville and The Cabaret of Ida Bucket. Currently, with fellow performer/writer Andy Avery, Chris is creating a body of work under the banner The Monopoly of Noise; a two piece theatre company that incorporates narrative styles with comedy to create thought provoking comic work.

Both Andy Avery and Aliki Chapple are also UCLAN Theatre Practice graduates, and both are performers and writers. As well as performing with Chris as part of this years’ Method Lab showcase, Andy is currently collaborating with Chris in creating The Monopoly of Noise, and Aliki is in the midst of writing an autobiographical comic book
