The work begins with a quiet discussion with the audience about things that change pace. Things with irregular speeds like unwell hearts or things with predictable patterns like the progression or decline of a love affair. We talk about things like sawing wood and having children. We talk until it goes a bit quiet and then we start to dance as the pianist starts to play.
Things That Start Slowly continues Forecast’s play with movement and text and, as ever, it provides a warmly challenging experience for the audince. In this piece Forecast have collaborated with jazz pianist Adam Fairhall.
